Thursday 21 November and Sunday 24 November – Buttermarket
New for 2019, the Bury St Edmunds Christmas Fayre will feature a farmers and cookware market on the Buttermarket in the centre of the town. On offer will be a broad selection of high quality produce from East Anglian based farmers, growers and producers.
On sale will be beef, pork and lamb from Hessett; situated seven miles outside Bury St Edmunds and orders can be taken for a farm-reared Christmas Turkeys. Also available will be beers and ciders, fresh chilli sauces from Cambridge and Ipswich, Christmas wreaths made by flower growers based in Wisbech, mushrooms, jams, cheeses, honey, cosmetics, vegan foods, oils and charcuterie.
Traders selling goods such as cakes, beer, jams and baked goods will be supporting local farmers and growers by using a percentage of locally-grown ingredients in their products. Cake makers using “Silver Spoon” sugar support local farmers who grow sugar beet across the East of England and travel to Bury St Edmunds to deliver it for processing.
Two of the beer sellers use malted barley from Muntons of Stowmarket and all of the barley used in their products is grown from within a 50 mile radius of Stowmarket.
The Bury St Edmunds Christmas fayre farmers and cookware market can furnish your Christmas table with food, drinks that truly reflects the countryside that surrounds us. The market will also feature a selection of cookware including beautifully crafted ceramics, Balkan pottery and domestic ironworks from a local blacksmith.
