Come and see the famous F J Loades miniature Fun Fair during the Fayre in the arc shopping centre.

We are delighted to be back at the Bury Christmas market again this year.

Since last year the models were filmed by the BBC for Antiques Roadshow when the programme came to Helmingham Hall near Ipswich and I am pleased to report that it was broadcast in June when it was valued at £30,000.00. We only show it occasionally as time permits; this is one of our rare outings and we are delighted to be able to be at Bury St Edmunds.

After travelling for a number of years in a mobile show unit we were contracted to be one of the attractions at Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park and so in a massive display which included a big dipper specially built for the purpose the model funfair was resident there from 1983 up until 1994.

Fred Loades had died in June 1989 just 3 days before his 80th birthday.

Son John then maintained it and after leaving Pleasurewood part of it went to Bressingham Steam Museum for just 2 years.

The models were brought home to Westerfield (Ipswich) at the end of 1996 and carefully packed away.

Fred’s grandson Martin determined in late 2016 that it was time to bring them out again so this winter the mobile show unit was rebuilt and the models recently re-installed. Of course time has marched on to the point that some of the models are now 80 years old plus and still working well! Everything is illuminated by hundreds of tiny bulbs and works in realistic fashion.

Described by visitors to last years Xmas fair as a ‘little gem’ don’t miss the opportunity to see us in ARC shopping centre (facing Wagamama’s).
